Is Your Car Ready for What Fall Has to Offer?

Fall is a great time of year, especially once leaves start changing and all the fun fall activities start up. But is your car ready for the fun and more importantly, for all the road trips you might be taking? Here’s some advice from KS Autocare about getting your car ready.

Check Safety Concerns

Fall safety, and winter safety for that matter, in your car means making sure that your brakes work, that your lights are functional, and that your heater operates. All of these issues are big ones. Checking to make sure that these various features are functioning properly ensures that you’re able to stay safe on the road, comfortably warm, and that you can get any issues addressed before you have an actual breakdown or problem.

Look at Routine Maintenance

Is there any routine maintenance that you’re behind on? Skipping things like oil changes or wheel alignments might not seem like a big deal, but those can add up and create maintenance issues for your car. Combine that with colder weather and with things like rain and even possibly snow, and it’s a lot better to have those items taken care of sooner rather than later.

Consider Big Repairs Now

And what about big repairs? If there’s anything that you’ve been putting off, now might be the time. Getting new tires might be a good idea now, for instance, even if you think you can wait a couple of months. The extra traction now can make a difference, especially if winter weather makes an early appearance. Likewise, if there’s anything else you’ve been holding off on, like a brake job, that might be better to do now.

Take Stock of What You Need to Have with You

Also, is there anything that you should have with you in the trunk? Carrying around too much can add unnecessary weight to the car, but there are things you should have with you in fall and winter. Things like extra blankets, some water and non-perishable food items, jumper cables, and flares are all items you might want to stock in the cargo area of your car.
